A Humanist Hospital Chaplain (see video)
Lindsay van Dijk is the new Head Chaplain at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, including Amersham and High Wycombe Hospitals. She is only the third atheist/humanist Chaplain in the NHS, and the first Head Chaplain. Lindsay is in charge of a team of three priests and 24 volunteers, who mostly carry out pastoral work. Lindsay studied Humanist Pastoral care at university in Holland, and is currently studying for a PhD in the subject. She has worked as a humanist pastoral carer at Harvard in the USA, in a hospice and in a secondary school. She is a member of the British Associations for Counselling and Psychotherapy and for Person-Centred Approach.
Chiltern Humanists provide fellowship and education for Humanists and other non-religious people throughout the Chilterns.
